Walk or Run?

Last week I asked a question openly to all who happen to see it.  The question was:  Walk or run?  The answers will be based on personal interpretation of why I asked and on personal context of the person answering at the time.  Most people who see the question won't even answer.  But for those who do, each answer will be reflective of the personality and position of the person answering.  I'm usually one who would choose to walk because it allows for time to look around and reflect, enjoying the walk.  And yet I like to run but running wears me out.  But I do both from time to time. How about you?  Walk or run?

Each day Father asks us questions whether we know it or not.  He asks us if we know who He is.  And He asks us who others say He is. And He asks us if we believe.  And He asks us if we want to be healed.  And He asks us if we remember His words and commands.  And He asks us if we want to join Him in His work.  And He asks us if we know He loves us.  And He asks us if we know all that He has done for us.  And He asks us if we love Him.  And our answers are based on personal interpretation and personal context while reflective of our personality and position.  And if we really know Him, our answers are based on His truth.  And like Peter in Matthew 16, our answer will not be our own but His, wrapped up in our personality and context and they will reveal to us more of who He is, more of how He has made us into the personality we are, and more of our position and identity in Him.  Matthew 16:15-17 says, "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."  Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

Today, as I watched some precious friends play soccer, I heard Him ask me my own question.  He said, "Walk or run?"  And I saw one of my little friends break into a run from one end of the soccer field to the other as she moved from offensive play to defensive play.  Her mother said something about that being her favorite part of the game.  And I said, "Yes, she loves the wide open spaces."  And my answer was, "Let me run today."  And He said, "Blessed are you, Amy, my Beloved, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven."  My personality, much like my little friend, is to long for the wide open spaces where I can run with abandon.  And my personal context in Him today is wide open.  So I will be running...

What question is He asking you today?  What is the answer He is speaking to your heart?  Walk or run?

Psalm 119:41-42 (The Message) And I'll stride freely through wide open spaces as I look for your truth and your wisdom; Then I'll tell the world what I find, speak out boldly in public, unembarrassed. I cherish your commandments—oh, how I love them!— relishing every fragment of your counsel.

Today I'm running,
Amy
